24th JDC Trial Exhibit Rules

24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana:  Not long ago implemented a new rule for use of documents during trial.  Each page of all exhibits in a bench book and those documents admitted into evidence during trial must be branded with the docket name and number along with a page count for each exhibit.  For example:

Bench Book Tab 1:  Consists of 24 pages.  The document must be branded as follows:  Jones, et al v. Jones, et al., Docket No. 99-9999 “A”; and the pages should be numbered: Page 1 of 24, Page 2 of 24, Page 3 of 24, etc.

Bench Book Tab 2:  Consists of 100 pages.  The document must be branded as follows:  Jones, et al v. Jones, et al., Docket No. 99-9999 “A”; and the pages should be numbered: Page 1 of 100, Page 2 of 100, Page 3 of 100, etc.

Bench Book Tab 3:  Consists of 60 pages.  The document must be branded as follows:  Jones, et al v. Jones, et al., Docket No. 99-9999 “A”; and the pages should be numbered: Page 1 of 60, Page 2 of 60, Page 3 of 60, etc.

This should be done throughout the Bench Book.  While some Judges require this branding of documents, some do not, but prefer it.  Beacon Litigation can assist you with electronically branding documents for you by batching all documents at one time.
